It marks the first release in the PGA Tour series in nearly six years, with Rory McIlroy PGA Tour 15 the last golf game released by EA. They have already made the foray into next-gen gaming with FIFA 21 and Madden 21.
In the press release about the game’s launch, EA said it came as part of a “new, long-term deal” with the PGA Tour, suggesting that golf fans have plenty of new games to look forward to over the coming years.
There is yet to be a release date confirmed, nor confirmation whether the game will release on PC as well as on PS5 and Xbox Series, but EA said more information and promotion of the game will be released very soon.
It’s certainly exciting for golf fans and fans of sports games in general, and EA said the announcement marked their “continued commitment to create new and exciting ways for millions of players to engage with sport through authentic interactive entertainment.” More announcements are to come - and the game has a new Twitter account.

Previous iterations of the series have been named after iconic players, with Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy both donning the cover in previous years. Today’s press release, however, suggested that the title will simply be “EA SPORTS PGA TOUR”, breaking from this tradition. Shane Lowry has been absolutely robbed.
