The FIFA 22 Soundtrack is here. As the game edges ever so closer to its October 1st release date one of the most important aspects of the game is unveiled for the world. Not the gameplay, not the ratings, but the soundtrack.
FIFA has been the leader in football video games for well over a decade now, but it has also been the leader in video game soundtracks. EA Sports have put a huge emphasis on the music to create an atmosphere like none in video games. There's always a summertime, happy vibe to the game with the bright colours and up lifting. So, if you get pummeled in weekend league you can always return to the menu and relax to the music.
It's the largest soundtrack EA have every released with over 120 songs over the two playlists. The FIFA 22 Soundtrack is more of the traditional indie/electronic music with a sprinkling of hip-hop. This year's soundtrack includes the likes of Martin Garrix and Swedish House Mafia while some artists are returning to the game. Bakar, Glass Animals and Loyle Carner are among the few that are on the soundtrack again. Irish band Inhaler make their debut in the game. The Dublin band have been on the rise in the indie scene over the last few years being recognised on BBC's 'sound of 2020' list. Lead singer Elijah Hewson is the son of legendary U2 lead singer Bono.

The Volta playlist is the second playlist on FIFA 22. Volta is EA Sports's more modern version of the retro FIFA Street games, featuring more street football and mini games like 5-a-side. The Volta playlist therefore has a more urban sound than the traditional soundtrack, featuring more hip-hop and a larger variety of music. Drill artist Headie One and grime artist AJ Tracey are on the playlist as well as US act Brockhampton.
