With players getting to grips with the first installment of the rebranded EA Sports FC series, we have the lowdown on the most effective defensive settings on FC 24 - or "META defending" for short.
One new addition to the game's settings has seen the arrival of "advanced defending," and we have the lowdown on how to get the most out of this new method of defence on FC 24.

EA Sports FC 24 META defending: The new defensive setup to master
On FC 24, the META defensive setup takes full advantage of the "advanced defending" setting which is new to the game.
To enable this, players should go to the pause menu and go to "Game settings." From there, you should go to "DEFENDING", and switch from "Tactical Defending" to "Advanced Defending."
This change in setting will allow players to make use of a crucial control input which will revolutionise your defensive play.
For players on PlayStation, when lining up an attacker, hold down the Triangle button and hold the left analog stick in the direction of the player moving towards your goal. For players on Xbox, hold the Y button instead of Triangle.
At the same time use the Circle button on PlayStation, or the B button on Xbox, to use a standing tackle once you meet your opponent.
The Triangle/Y button will enable you to charge at the attacking player at speed, while the Circle/B button will ensure that you follow through with an effective tackle.
Previous world and European champion on the game Ovvy shared a gameplay video showcasing this innovative new tactic to march the game's launch, and it shows the tactic in action - and how best to perfect the subtleties of the controls in different types of situations.
In attacking gameplay, the controlled sprint has been one of the biggest additions to FC 24, and the META defensive setup of using attacking defending counteracts its effectiveness perfectly.
