In these trying times, we need as much good news as we can get, and if that good news is unexpected, that's even better.
During the week, EA announced that they were in early development for a new Skate game, with the last, 'Skate 3', being released in 2010.
Creative Director Cuz Parry and Game Director Deran Chung announced the news via EA Play Live, and it's safe to say people lost their minds.

Perry even remarked about the franchise's rabid fanbase "commenting" about the game's return, and how the fanbase's decade-long campaign worked.
One member of the Skate fanbase who virtually spearheaded the campaign is musician Tyler, the Creator. The former leader of Odd Future has an innumerable amount of tweets over the course of the last decade pleading with developers to create a new Skate.
STOP PLAYING MAN WE WANT SKATE 4, PLEASE, LIKE, PLEASE IM NOT ONE TO BUG BUT ITS ONLY UP FROM HERE STOP PLAYING WITH OUR EMOTIONS @EA

The @SkateEA twitter account had even been dormant for nearly ten years, with the last tweet from the account dated September 8 2010.

Chung reflected on the dormant decade as one in which those behind the scenes had to "wait" for the right time to return.
"We've been waiting years, honestly, to make the right game, at the right time, with the right idea".
The game looked like it was never going to return when, in 2013, the franchise's developer EA Black Box dissolved. It's unclear which developer is going to take on the fourth title in the series, but with Chung and Perry at the helm, the feel of the old games will never be too far away.
Furthermore, although the internet cried out for 'Skate 4' for a decade, there has been no indication from EA that the next game will be called 'Skate 4'.
Either way, most are just happy that the franchise is returning. We don't know when the new 'Skate' will be released, but regardless, we can't wait.
