The early stages of the FIFA Ultimate Team season can be tough as you try to build a side that you can play consistently with as soon as possible.
While you may have to wait a while before you earn enough coins to be able to buy the kinds of players you'll be meeting in Weekend League every week, every year there are players that play way above what their stats suggest and thus go under the radar on the Transfer Market.
We have gone through each of the top five most popular leagues for starter teams and listed five players that you can get for very little coins and keep them in your team for ages without needing to upgrade them.
Bundesliga:
Zlatko Junuzovic
An all-around midfielder with an eye for goal, Junuzovic is always in the right place at the right time thanks to his high/high workrates.
Mitchell Weiser
Hertha Berlin's young right-back is a monster on the game this year and is usable for Weekend League in a Bundesliga squad thanks to his excellent passing and dribbling, and pace to keep up with most wingers.
Naby Keita
It seems crazy that he does not sell for more, as you would struggle to find a more balanced and well rounded CM with such a good engine in the league.
Niklas Stark
Stark's pace makes him a steal at close to discard value, and at 6'3" he is a dominant presence in-game.
La Liga Santander:
Oscar De Marcos
Another Weekend League quality full-back, De Marcos will never let you down and is extremely comfortable in possession.
Wissam Ben Yedder
Capable of playing at ST, CF, and CAM, Ben Yedder is popular again this year as he can finish, pass, score headers, and has 5-star weak-foot and 4-star skills. Beast.
Rafinha
A beautifully well-rounded box-to-box midfield player, Rafinha is easy to link into squads and is remarkable consistent and noticeable in-game.
Luis Muriel
A FUT favourite for a long time, Muriel is back to his best on FIFA 18 with lightning pace and impressive finishing.
Calcio A:
Jordan Lukaku
A complete tank of a full-back who barges puny wingers out of his way for fun, someone you can keep in your Calcio A side for the whole season, unless he gets an in-form which would be an even bigger monster.
Mario Mandzukic
In FIFA 17 Mandzukic would not be that attractive an option, but his physicality and heading ability make him a dangerous weapon this year. Overlooked for not having elite pace, Mario is surprisingly effective.
Gianluigi Donnarumma
88 diving, 88 reflexes, and a 6'5" frame means that AC Milan's young star rarely lets a cheap goal past him.
Piotr Zielinski
If his stats were not impressive enough, a 5-star weak-foot and 4-star skills make the Polish international a dream midfielder available for cheap.
Ligue 1:
Fabinho
The AS Monaco man is someone you are going to see a lot of in Weekend League as he is great at absolutely everything. It is crazy how cheap he is on the market.
Hatem Ben Arfa
Ben Arfa is always lethal on FIFA and 18 is no exception as his 5-star skills and dribbling stats make him a major problem for defenders.
Stevan Jovetic
Now in Ligue 1, the Montenegro striker is always good on FIFA for his superb balance of attacking qualities at ST, CF, or CAM.
Djibril Sidibe
A magnificent attacking full-back with stats of a box-to-box midfielder, as good as you'll find in the league.
Premier League:
Victor Wanyama
Everybody should use big Vic at least once as he physically dominates every midfielder he comes up against and wins back so much ball from the opposition.
Michael Keane
Good pace, and really well rounded stats to go with his attacking threat from corner kicks.
Asmir Begovic
A go-to Ultimate Team starter squad goalie, Begovic is once again a reliable pair of hands until you can afford the elite keepers.
Manuel Lanzini
Just a superb card with perfect stats for a CAM, Lanzini has all the tools needed to be a hugely influential player.
