Mayo secured their spot in the final of the Electric Ireland Connacht Minor Football Championships after a superb Kobe McDonald performance in a dominant win over Leitrim in Castlebar on Friday night.
Kobe, the son of Mayo legend Ciarán McDonald has been impressing since breaking into the Mayo minor set up earlier this year having made a name for himself with Crossmolina Deel Rovers at under 16 level last year.

McDonald got the start last night for Mayo minors at MacHale Park and quickly got himself on the scoresheet with a brilliantly taken point after 12 minutes. He added a couple of free kicks to his tally before half time as Mayo went into the sheds with a 0-6 to 0-3 lead.
Brilliant score from Kobe McDonald to get @MayoGAA first score of the game in Round 4 of the Electric Ireland Connacht Minor Championship!

Leitrim did well to hold Mayo out in the first half but as the second got going the hosts started to pull away. An Oisín Deene goal two minutes after the restart gave Mayo a healthy lead and they didn't look back from there.
Kobe McDonald along with Evan Walsh scored two goals in the space of a few minutes to put the game beyond any doubt as Mayo were victorious 3-8 to 0-4.
The win means Mayo secured their spot in the Electric Ireland Connacht Minor Football Championship final with a game to spare before the knockouts.
In the other match last night Roscommon beat Sligo 2-8 to 0-8 at home in Dr Hyde Park to secure their place in the semifinals.
That leaves Sligo needing to win at Mayo next weekend or hope Leitrim get a result against Galway if they are to get the other spot in the semis.
