Conor McManus turns 37 this weekend, but since he hit his thirties, it seems that the word "retirement" has been looming over him.

Some of that comes from fear because fans don't want to see this great career come to an end, but the good news is that he keeps coming back to the well, and 2025 could be business as usual for the Farney man.

McManus has been lining out for Monaghan since 2007, meaning that he has been performing at the very top level for 17 years.

An 18th yea in blue and white isn't guaranteed though, as he explains on Off The Ball's Football Pod that there are certain things that he needs to get right, to make sure that he can return.

“It seems to be when you turn 30, them questions just seem to appear.

“I still don't really know, I sort of committed to doing a bit of rehab and a bit of strength work over the next five to six weeks and see how that goes.

“If it puts me in a position where I feel I can get through another year, I will and if it doesn't, I’ll probably leave it at that so I suppose I’ll have to make that decision sooner rather than later.

“I don't want to drag it on any longer than I need to but I’ll give it a chance. I didn’t really do much until the club season was over, we lost the county final so I’ll sort of get into a block of that now for five or six weeks.”

The three-time All-Star missed the majority of the club championship with Clontiberit after breaking his hand in the early stages of the competition.

However, in typical McManus fashion, he managed to get himself back just in time for the county final which they ultimately lost to Scotstown.

Injuries have hampered the flying forward throughout 2024, so getting the body right again will be a top priority this winter, and if he can do that, then we could all be treated to more McManus greatness next season.
