On the GAA row scale, this definitely would slot into the shameful scenes category.

The match was a senior championship quarter-final between Rathnew and Carnew last Saturday, and both sides boasted only 12 players each come the final whistle.

The Irish Independent report that with around 10 minutes left, a massive melee broke out between the teams following an off-the-ball fraca. A lot like the Louth v Laois video we featured earlier this week, fight specialists were quick to abandon their sideline station and enter the playing field as the referee lost control of proceedings.

After it settled down however, the ref Declan Peppard was taking no nonsense and dished out fours red cards, two apiece, hoping that would be the end of it. Carnew took great umbrage to this as they insisted they'd substituted one of their red card duo before he'd actually been given his marching orders.

The Indo says they left his replacement on for a few minutes despite the referee's pleas. When Solskjaer eventually slumped back to the dugout, Peppard must have thought the drama was over but alas there were still some headaches in waiting.

The teams managed to get another player apiece sent off before the final whistle was eventually blown. Rathnew ran out winners 2-9 to 0-7.
