Under the last days of Jose Mourinho's reign at Chelsea, their social media accounts gained a reputation for having a disdain of objective truth similar to that of Soviet Russia. Take for example this 'match report' of a comprehensive 3-0 defeat to Manchester City:
Wexford GAA are certainly free of the trappings of Jose's regime, as the person manning their official twitter account was determined to offer an honest appraisal of their hurlers' performance against Waterford.
They were slightly worried early on
Waterford much sharper so far, no hangover from Tipp game
— Wexford GAA (@OfficialWexGAA) July 24, 2016
Worries which were not misplaced
Waterford winning all our puc outs and sending them back with interest
— Wexford GAA (@OfficialWexGAA) July 24, 2016
They were unimpressed by Wexford's slow start
Wide from the 65m We could have done with the point after 13 minutes and only 1 to show so far
— Wexford GAA (@OfficialWexGAA) July 24, 2016
They pointed to differences from the Cork victory...
Very poor marking from free and Waterford have easy shot and point, not sharp like last day at all
— Wexford GAA (@OfficialWexGAA) July 24, 2016
...and their only potential reprieve
Waterford hitting a lot of wides, lucky for us so far
— Wexford GAA (@OfficialWexGAA) July 24, 2016
The sweeper sweeping statements soon followed
This is very poor hurling
— Wexford GAA (@OfficialWexGAA) July 24, 2016
An opinion supported by a worrying stat
We have lost 11 of our own puc outs
— Wexford GAA (@OfficialWexGAA) July 24, 2016
A half-time perspective
Half time, 7 behind not sharp or smart like last day at all. Waterford have 12 scores and 14 wides. Awful game to watch.
— Wexford GAA (@OfficialWexGAA) July 24, 2016
Second half didn't start much better
Awful marking at line ball allows Waterford to point
— Wexford GAA (@OfficialWexGAA) July 24, 2016
Before a brief Wexford flurry in the rain inspired hope
Eanna Martin from half way with a great score, supporters cry out Wexford. Come on
— Wexford GAA (@OfficialWexGAA) July 24, 2016
Eanna wins a free, buzzed up from last point and the support keep it coming
— Wexford GAA (@OfficialWexGAA) July 24, 2016
More spirit now this is better come on
— Wexford GAA (@OfficialWexGAA) July 24, 2016
Before a mazy run by Austin Gleeson killed momentum
Let him run 80m metres then foul is bad play, another easy free and killing the comeback.
— Wexford GAA (@OfficialWexGAA) July 24, 2016
There was very little consolation on offer at full-time
All over for another year. 21 to 11 we lose. Not a good performance
— Wexford GAA (@OfficialWexGAA) July 24, 2016
Disappointment then, for Wexford. But theirs is a young team, and if they can build on the win against Cork and perhaps re-introduce Jack Guiney, then Wexford's tweets next year may be more in line with the kind of joy they exhibited post-Cork:
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
— Wexford GAA (@OfficialWexGAA) July 9, 2016
Oh Lord, I heard my parents talk about beating Cork This is magic, Class from the boys hard to tweet afraid of calling it early but amazing
