Wexford footballers will wear a special commemorative jersey for the opening match of the Leinster Championship match. The jersey is a nod to the Model county's success in the early 1900s when the Yellow bellies won six Leinster titles as well as four All-Irelands between 1913 and 1918.
To mark the 100 years since that successful period for the county, Wexford will line-out in a one-off purple and gold jersey similar to that worn in the 1910s for their Leinster Championship opener on May 12 against Laois.
The jersey will officially be launched at the county’s championship preview night in Stillorgan’s Talbot Hotel tomorrow, with Leinster's Tadhg Furlong and former Ireland international Kevin Doyle among the guests in attendance.
