One of our favourite GAA stories so far this year was in last week's Mayo News.
In the local notes appeared a plea for anyone who had found a set of lost teeth which were owned by a local GAA player. He would be forced to "re-mould his gumshield" if the dentures were not located.
The Mayo News now have an update on their status.
The teeth were owned by Kilmeena clubman Joe Ryan and is quoted by the latest issue of the paper as expressing his surprise with how much publicity his loss has garnered.
It's mad how it has taken off. I didn't think so many people would be concerned for my teeth!
All the media attention has not helped him find the set though and so has been fitted for new dentures. This all means, presumably, that Joe will have to re-mould his gumshield. Unfortunate business you'll no doubt agree.
There is some good news however, the cost has been offset however by a collection in Toby's Bar in Westport of which Joe is a regular patron.
I, for one, can't wait to see how Sky Sports cover important GAA stories like this.
