Dublin haven't qualified for the last four of the All-Ireland senior football championship for the first time since 2009.
Dessie Farrell's side were in the driving seat when leading Galway by four points in the early stages of the second half of their All-Ireland quarter final clash.
But a Galway surge inspired by the likes of Cillian McDaid, Shane Walsh and Dylan McHugh stunned the Dubs as they were condemned to a rare 0-17 to 0-16 defeat.
Galway now advance to the semi-finals of the All-Ireland senior football championship where they'll take on Donegal in a fortnight's time while for Dublin, all the talk is about potential retirements and 'the end of an era.'
Dublin certainly didn't finish the game with their customary zip and speaking on The Sunday Game after Kerry's defeat of Derry, Peter Canavan brought up rumours of an illness in the Dublin camp.
The Tyrone legend raised the topic as the panel looked to ahead to the All-Ireland semi-finals where Donegal take on Galway as Armagh play Kerry.
"We're hearing today that the Dublin camp was struck down with illness during the week, that a lot of their players were wiped with a bug," Canavan said as part of the RTÉ panel on Sunday.
"You never hear of these things before the game but if that is the case, and that team meetings were held by Zoom."
"Clearly the second half demise of them may have been something to do with their illness.
"You just don't know what's going on behind the scenes with players recovering from injuries and so on."

As they were asked for their predictions, he mentioned how injuries and illness could have a big part to play, with Galway in particular sweating on the fitness of Shane Walsh.
An illness has been doing the rounds among GAA teams with Darragh Fitzgibbon explaining how some of the Cork hurlers were struck down before their clash with Dublin.
“There was a bug in our camp and obviously Rob [Downey] couldn’t play," he told us last week.
"But there were a couple of other guys in the dressing room who were actually getting sick before the match. A couple of guys had been up all night as well.
“It was testament to the players who were able to play and who stepped in and did a job to the best of their abilities. That made the result pleasing as well because it was just a matter of trying to win the game and get on to the next one."
