RTE sideline reporters have become used to the cold shoulder from Ulster coaches.
Last year, Paul Grimley and Armagh imposed an almost total media ban last year. We say 'almost' because he did make an exception for ex-Armagh import Billy Joe Padden.
Mickey Harte is still refusing to speak to the state broadcaster - meaning that if Tyrone do upset the odds and win the All-Ireland, the winners banquet will be a fairly drab affair.
However, Fermanagh manager Pete McGrath has ceased hostilities.
McGrath was annoyed by Spillane and Brolly's (who else?) comments on Ryan McCluskey's sending off against Monaghan.
As a result the Sunday Game's fairly slight coverage of Fermanagh's wins over Antrim and Roscommon went to air without the post-match thoughts of McGrath. Television dealt with this blow and carried on regardless.
But, now the siege is over. A call to the editor was enough to settle the matter.
I’ve since spoke to the Sunday Game editor (Paul Byrne) and explained my position. He said he understood it and he would speak to the two pundits who made the remarks.
McGrath agreed with Tomas Corrigan's scathing comments about the Sunday's Game treatment of the win over Roscommon, though he acknowledged that producing television coverage produces its own logistical difficulties.
