Tinahely manager Martin Ging says he had full belief that his team could defeat Portarlington in Sunday's Leinster club football championship first round.
An early goal from the manager's son Matthew settled them into the game after a slow start before Eoin Darcy scored their second, giving them further belief.
Portarlington were without key players from their county final win in Paddy O'Sullivan, Colm Murphy, Robbie Piggott and Eoin McCann - with the four having gone travelling - leaving them especially vulnerable.
Tinahely remained underdogs for the game, priced at 5/1 by the bookmakers generally, having won their first county title in 40 years just last Sunday.
Speaking to Balls.ie last week, their selector David Dillon said they were 'shook' when they met up again on Tuesday, on the back of the celebrations.
"Lads were shook enough," he said.
"We didn't do an awful lot. It was just about getting some sort of normality back in, 45 or 50 minutes. Help lads sleep if nothing else."
Speaking to Independent.ie after their triumph, Ging said his team have 'no fear,' hailing their heart and determination ahead of a home quarter final against Tullamore in a fortnight's time.
“We had to take them out of pubs on Tuesday," he said.
"We got them together Tuesday night. We just turned up. That’s all we did. We actually trained properly for the first time on Friday night,”
“We came back … we knew we had a chance up here, in fairness. And that’s no disrespect to Port’. But we actually fancied coming up here.
We’ve trained 100 times this year and this is our 25th match. We have a crowd of young lads who know no fear. And you could see the heart out there today was there to be seen."
A number of the Tinahely players took part in the club's lip-sync fundraiser on Saturday night before the game, adding to the feel-good factor surrounding the club.
“The dream keeps on living now," said Ging.
"For the size of our village, for what we’ve done for Wicklow football, people gave us no hope. A great night for Tinahely. We’re going to celebrate it now."
