Penalty shootouts in the GAA, how did we even manage without them?
They have been a relatively new introduction to the sport, eliminating the possibility of multiple replays in what is already a very tight calendar.
That has been even more pronounced this year, with the delay in the season due to the coronavirus ensuring that there is little opportunity for replays and other fixture uncertainties.
Only last weekend we saw the Armagh SFC quarter-final between Madden and Pearse Óg decided by penalties, with another dramatic game taking place in Ulster last night.
This time it was in Tyrone, where the straight knockout format of this year's Senior Football Championship was always going to ensure no shortage of drama.
Reigning champions Trillick took on Killyclogher in the quarter-finals, continuing their quest to defend the title this year for the first time since 1975.
The two sides served up an absolute cracker, with the game finishing 1-16 to 2-13 after extra time. A penalty shootout followed, with Trillick goalkeeper Ryan Kelly proving to be the hero for his club after he saved the decisive penalty in a 4-3 win.
