What's at Stake?

There's plenty at stake this weekend for Tipperary, a win over currently winless Waterford would see them guaranteed their place in the Munster Final and therefore the All-Ireland series. While a loss would likely see them finish third and still qualify for the All-Ireland series, it is possible if Cork and Limerick drew that third place could go to points difference.

Form Guide

Waterford's form under Davy Fitz has been dismal, they go into the fifth round without a win and frankly with little signs of improvement. They started the Championship with what seemed like a gallant loss to Limerick, however, they've since fallen off a cliff edge with Davy Fitz's men suffering tough defeats against Cork and Clare. They come into this game off the back of heavy criticism from around the country but with a two-week break to reset themselves. With only their pride on the line, Sunday will be all about how Waterford and Davy respond to their critics and whether they return fighting or hold up the white flag.

Tipperary's form has been a huge contributor to the most exciting GAA competition we've seen so far this season. They beat top-of-the-table Clare before splitting the rewards with both Limerick and Cork after two spectacles of hurling. While they had the better of Limerick for nearly sixty minutes last weekend, they were probably fortunate to come away with a point after tiring in the last quarter.

Recommended

Tipperary are heavy favourites and if they play the way they've been playing so far they should be preparing for a Munster final come Monday. However, complacency will be their enemy this Sunday and they'll have to be wary not to walk into an old Davy Fitz trick.

Team News

Tipperary

Tipperary have named their starting team and Patrick 'Bonner' Maher maintains his place following a huge performance against Limerick. In a huge boost for the Premier County, Cathal Barrett is also fit to start despite sustaining a nasty head injury in their draw with Limerick. Noel McGrath captains the side while there's no space for Seamus Callanan who starts from the bench.

Waterford

Despite struggling all season, Davy Fitz has named just one change to his Waterford team that lost to Clare with goalkeeper Billy Nolan being replaced by Shaun O'Brien. It's an unusual call even for Davy, possibly aimed at improving Waterford's poor puck outs or is a Davy trick play on the cards? Beyond that, the team is led out by joint captains Jamie Barron and Stephen Bennett while Austin Gleeson starts at centre forward.

That's all the info on how to watch Tipperary v Waterford in the Munster Hurling Championship this Sunday.
