East Kerry stormed to a Kerry Club Championship semi-final with a 4-12 to 2-10 victory over South Kerry.
The result ensures they will progress to play Dingle in two weeks. East Kerry roared into an early lead and were up 2-7 to 1-4 at half-time thanks to a Darragh Roche double. South Kerry were dealt a hammer blow just after half-time when Oran Clifford was sent off for a strike.
Outstanding throughout was Kerry star, David Clifford. Playing alongside his older brother, Paudie, the youngster was superb operating further out the field as a creator. Bryan Sheehan had landed a superb point to reduce the gap to seven but Clifford answered emphatically with a goal after 44 minutes to all but end the tie.

In the stands watching on was Maurice Fitzgerald, reportedly one of the favourites to assume the role of Kerry manager. Per today's Sunday Times, Fitzgerald was the preferred candidate but turned down the offer last week. However, the selection committee have not given up hope.
Speaking to TG4 after the game, David Clifford declared the team satisfied with the afternoon's work while also discussing players trying to impress new Kerry management.
As soon as we found our momentum, I think we played a nice brand of football. You can see upped our tackling which was a big thing we wanted to work on so we were happy enough with it.
