It has done it again. With relentless consistency, this hurling Championship has produced. Today was the turn of Limerick and Clare as the Munster rivals did battle in the All-Ireland semi-final and for the second time this year, extra-time was required.
Cork looked home and dry with ten minutes left. With six minutes of normal time left, they led 1-26 to 1-20. However, this Limerick side has skill and steel and the introduction of substitutes Shane Dowling and Peter Casey proved crucial as John Kiely's side roared back into the tie.
At the other end, a piece of magic from Limerick goalkeeper Nickie Quaid ensured the game must go to extra-time. With Patrick Horgan bearing down on goal, Quaid pulled off a sensational stop to deny the Cork star forward.

The superb stop drew apt praise.
John Mullane is in the press box and somehow it feels like he's on the pitch.
