Reigning PFA player of the year Riyad Mahrez met up with his good pal Conor McManus this weekend for a keepy-uppy challenge.
Mahrez befriended the all-star corner forward when he spent a summer learning English in Monaghan a few years back, so the two recently got together to see who can do more keepy-uppys now that they have both emerged as stars in their sports.
That last part is entirely false, but it would have been fun wouldn't it? Sure Xabi Alonso won a junior all Ireland right? In reality it was a meeting arranged by Eir Sport who wanted to see how the Algerian could handle a hurley.
It was OK, but just the rugby and cricket was hard for me...
We can't let him off with that, and fair play to Conor McManus for sorting him out.
The trend of getting foreign sports stars to try hurling shows no signs of slowing down, Mahrez, however, is unlikely to ever pick one up again.
