Mayo midfielder Matthew Ruane was the EirGrid man-of-the-match following his side's 5-7 to 1-14 victory over Cork after an enthralling Under-21 All-Ireland final.
After a mammoth personal display and a blistering finish by the entire Mayo team, Ruane spoke to TG4 to accept the accolade, but was quick to remember his friend and Mayo teammate Darragh Doherty, who died in a road accident last year aged just 19.
A Minor All-Ireland winner in 2013, Doherty had scored 1-2 in a final which saw Mayo beat Tyrone by a goal, and Ruane said his team will remember their good friend Darragh amidst the wild celebrations in Ennis.
