Former Mayo Gaelic footballer Pearce Hanley was the best player in the last round of AFL matches. The 25-year-old was pivotal in Brisbane Lions' dramatic 70-66 victory over North Melbourne Kangaroos. The Irish man was a rock in their defence as you can see by the crunching tackles in this video. He also racked up 34 for disposals (that's a handpass or a kick in layman's terms) during the match, which was the highest of any player on the field.

Hanley made the move from Ballaghaderreen to Brisbane in 2007, after impressing scouts in the International Rules series. He was part of the Ireland team that triumphed over Australia in the lion's den in 2005.
