It seems that every year hurlers are able to hit the ball further distances. In 2019, scoring from any dead ball situation inside the opposition half is nearly seen as a given at inter-county level. For the top players, that can even be extended to just inside their own half.
That is now extending to puck outs.
Laois goalkeeper Enda Rowland was playing for his club Abbeyleix in the opening round of the county championship against Clough-Ballacolla last night, when he achieved a remarkable feat.
Rowland is no stranger to scoring despite his position, but we're not sure if he had ever scored from a puck out before. He has now anyway.
Coincidentally his opposition goalkeeper on Saturday also scored a huge point earlier in the year, which is also included in the video.
Take a look at this (credit to LaoisToday for the video).
Rowland was aided by a strong breeze, and even though the ball bounced before going over the bar, we're definitely still counting it.
Some going.
