On a superb Sunday for sport, hurling was always going to have its say and so it proved as the All-Ireland semi-final between Kilkenny and Cork was forced to extra-time thanks to a last gasp goal from Adrian Mullen.
Kieran Kingston's outfit had bossed the second half and seemed to be in total control heading down the home straight. Six points clear with seven minutes left looked like a comfortable lead, but this is Kilkenny and they do not die.
A long-range TJ Reid score and '65 reduced the gap before Adrian Mullen added another. With four minutes of added time played, it looked like too little too late yet Mullen was not done.
The Ballyhale club man was on the receiving end of a sensational Padraig Walsh pass and struck an outstanding goal.

In extra-time, Cork rallied once more and a Jack O'Connor goal sent them on their way.

It ended Cork 1-37 Kilkenny 1-32 after extra time. What a game, what a sport.
