The 2005 football final saw Kerry and Tyrone meeting in the second of their three All-Ireland series meetings that decade.
The Kingdom had beaten Cork in the semi-final and Tyrone had bested Armagh. It set up a game with Kerry looking to get revenge for the 2003 All-Ireland semi-final defeat.
