Form Guide

Derry come into this game in flying form. They secured promotion and finished atop Division Two in the Allianz Leagues, going unbeaten until they lost out to Dublin in the final. That loss is the sole blemish on their season, having overcome every team in the leagues and comfortably disposing of Fermanagh 3-18 to 2-7 in the Ulster SFC quarter-final two weeks ago.

However, their squad depth has been called into question a number of times already this season, with some thinking it cost them dearly in the League Final against Dublin. As the games pile on, that depth will continue to be tested, including this weekend.

Monaghan on the other hand, have had a rocky enough season. They managed to hang on in Division one by the bare minimum of one point, winning just three of seven games and losing the rest, during a nervy campaign for the county.

However, they looked like a different team in their win over Tyrone at the Ulster SFC quarter-final stage. Despite not being favourites, they took risks and eventually won with a superb yet unlikely Ryan O'Toole goal at the death to win by two points.

Despite Pat Spillane calling football boring this game could be one of the best of the season. Head-to-head practically nothing separates these sides, however, with Derry's current form its hard not to fancy their chances of a narrow win on Saturday.
