The All-Ireland club hurling champions Cuala secured their third successive county title in Parnell Park this afternoon.
In a repeat of last year's Dublin county final, Cuala once again overcame Kilmacud Crokes by a three-point margin.
Although Kilmacud were within range of leveling the match as the clock slipped into additional time, Cuala held their nerve and moved one step closer to retaining their provincial, and national titles.
In Kilmacud Crokes, Cuala came up against strong opposition the like of which has become increasingly more common in the Dublin hurling championship.
Cuala's Shane Stapleton was one player interviewed post-match determined to highlight the hurling talent in the capital.
Normally the man behind the mic for eir sport, Stapleton, who came on as a substitute for Cuala in the second-half, called on a surprising simile to demonstrate the difficulties Cuala have faced this year:
In Dublin, we don't win games well. Last year we were put to the pin of our collar everyday and the scorelines will show that.
It's been a really tough campaign; Brigid's we only barely got across, St. Vincent's the same, and the same with Kilmacud ... It's like two clubs that are side by side, it's like Springfield and Shelbyville.
A cracking Simpsons reference from Stapleton, anyone who was unsure of the competitive nature of club hurling in Dublin, now you know.
