Cora Staunton might just be the best Mayo footballer of all-time. She proved that once again in Elverys MacHale Park in Castlebar today, scoring a frankly insane 2-14 to help her Mayo side sweep past the challenge of Galway in the Connacht final. Mayo prevailed on a scoreline of 3-20 to 0-14 meaning Staunton on her own was six points superior to Galway.
Staunton is well used to racking up huge totals (last summer we covered the fact that she scored 9-12 in a club game for Carnacon) but this is her 20th season with Mayo - she made her debut as a 13-year-old.
