She may not have been the most decisive player in today's Connacht final replay, but Cora Staunton showed her worth as Carnacon overcame Galway's Kilkerrin Clonberne at the second time of asking.
Having scored a remarkable 4-13 herself in the drawn game, Staunton's contribution was slightly more modest this time around.
As Kilkerrin Clonberne looked set to claim the Connacht title, their three point advantage looked solid with only a few moments remaining.
Standing over a 13m free, Staunton faced a full goal-line. Approaching with a timidity that suggested she was content with dropping the ball over the bar, it ended up falling just short.
Unfortunately for Kilkerrin Clonberne, it was still too high for the flailing arms of everyone stood on the goal-line.

Whether or not Staunton meant to go for goal all along will be a matter for some debate.
Perhaps it was an undercut effort at a point. Yet, with so little time remaining, it would not be surprising if a player of her ability demonstrated such an innovative approach.
Shortly thereafter, Clarnacon all but sealed a memorable victory with another late goal from Amy Dowling.

Staunton did perhaps choose to indulge in a little 'gamesmanship' once Carnacon's lead had been established; she would not see the match out on the pitch.

Ultimately though, two goals in so little time were too much for the Galway side and Carnacon now push on to the All-Ireland series.
Staunton, who is due to complete her move to Australia early next year, will not miss any part of their run.
For now, she along with her teammates will no doubt savour this hard-earned provincial win.
