With their male counterparts dominating Gaelic football to the extent that some are demanding radical overhauls of county borders, Dublin's ladies could have been putting the finishing touches on a four-in-a-row this year.
Having lost to Cork in three consecutive All-Ireland finals, Dublin's ladies were hurting.
Making it as far as a fourth final in succession this year, there must have been some relief amongst the players as Mayo overcame the impressive Cork in an All-Ireland semi-final.
To win the county's first title since 2010, Dublin would need to beat Mayo and the imperious Cora Staunton. With some aplomb, they did just that.
Given their sustained disappointment - but undoubted ability to fix that - this Dublin side were primed for a behind-the-scenes documentary.
Loosehorse has done just that - Blues Sisters will air on Monday 27th of November at 21.35 on RTÉ 1.
With complete access to their Championship year in its entirety, it gets right to the core of a team that had everything to prove.
