Well, who saw that coming? Roscommon have defeated Mayo in the Connacht SFC, and it was fully deserved too. They sprung out of the traps early on, hitting Mayo for two goals in the opening 11 minutes, with a major helping hand from Rob Hennelly.
The home side were playing catchup from that point on, and while they would move a point at head at one stage, this was Roscommon's evening.
They matched James Horan's side in the physical battle, and took their chances incredibly well when they fell their way. The same couldn't be said of Mayo, who continued to squander chance after chance.
There was a sense of inevitability when Kevin McLoughlin stepped up to hit the game defining free late on, and you always felt it was going to drift wide.
As you can imagine, the win went down an absolute treat with the Roscommon faithful.

Roscommon will now face Galway in the Connacht decider, a game they will enter a major underdogs despite upsetting the odds tonight.
Not many will give them much of a chance, but try telling that to the Roscommon supporters. They will certainly have a very different take on the matter...
