Referee Derek O'Mahony had to be escorted from the pitch after Saturday's All-Ireland U21 semi-final between Dublin and Cavan in Portlaoise. Dublin won a tightly contested game by a point, scored from a free awarded by O'Mahony with just over a minute left in regulation time.
Afterwards, Cavan manager Peter Reilly speculated that perhaps the GAA would prefer a Dublin win in the competition.
Maybe Dublin is a team they want to win and that Cavan is too small for the GAA. We are not happy at all.
Probably Cavan is a small entity in GAA terms, and decisions are being made in Croke Park in recent weeks in commercial activity. Maybe we aren't commercial enough for them.
Reilly also stated that he was not happy with several decisions made by Derek O'Mahony and that he had written to the GAA prior to the game complaining about it being held in Portlaoise. Dublin had already their provincial semi-final and final at the venue and O'Reilly felt this gave them an advantage.
