With Jim Gavin delegating his managerial duties for the night, and whole host of lesser-spotted Dubs making up the 'All-Ireland champions' XV, the Underdogs may well have fancied themselves to cause something of an upset.
Unfortunately, reports of Dublin's serious depth appear to have been underestimated if anything. Leading comfortably at half-time, Steven Smith's second goal of the night early in the 2nd half all but killed the game off.
Leading 3-12 to 0-3 with a little over half-an-hour played, viewers were left disgruntled as the Dubs mercilessly strangled even this purposefully feel-good GAA story.
In the end, Dublin would win 5-17 to 1-3, and few were wondering what at all the point of this endeavour had been.
Underdogs getting the Leinster Championship treatment.

Paul Clarke's sideline interview is hilarious in this Underdogs programme. 'Competitive game... they are coming at us hard...' Dublin 2-5 Underdogs 0-1.

I reckon @SportTG4 should send the Underdogs to play London next year.
Fairer competition and would be a bit of razzmatazz with playing them over there.— Rico Casey (@RicoCasey) October 19, 2018

Bit unfair to have Underdogs playing Dublin, should have had them playing a div 2 or 3 team to give them some chance

It didn't take too long for someone to call upon the meme that seemed the most fitting.
