Two-time All-Ireland winner Dan McCormack has called time on his Tipperary career after ten years in the blue and gold.
The Borris-Ileigh club-man first made it onto the Tipperary senior panel in 2014, before winning All-Irelands in 2016 and 2019, playing wing forward in both deciders.
The 31-year-old was a key player in Borris-Ileigh's journey to the 2019 All-Ireland club final, and he pledged to give 'as much back (to them) as I can in the coming years.'
McCormack comes from a family of hurlers with his younger brother Paddy scoring the winning goal in the 2022 All-Ireland final between Tipperary and Offaly.
Dan McCormack says he will "always cherish the time I got to wear the blue and gold at the highest possible level."
“After careful consideration and reflection, I have decided that now is the right time for me to announce my retirement from inter-county hurling with the Tipperary senior hurling team,” McCormack confirmed in a statement.
“Firstly and most importantly I want to sincerely thank my wife Edwina and family especially my parents, John and Patricia, for their continuous encouragement and support throughout my inter-county career.
"I will forever be indebted to my club, Borris-Ileigh, who played a crucial role in my career from a young age. I look forward to giving back as much as I can in the coming years."
“I'd like to thank the principal and my fellow staff members of St Joseph's College, Borrisoleigh, who facilitated me in any way they could during my time playing with Tipperary.
“I also want to thank all the managers and backroom teams who helped me along this journey and were very supportive of me as well as the Tipperary County Board and Tipperary Supporters Club. Thanks also to the Tipperary supporters who I have always been so proud to represent.
“I would like to thank all the players I played with and I feel unbelievably lucky to have shared a dressing-room with some of the best Tipperary have ever produced. More importantly, I have made lifelong friendships and shared fantastic memories along the way.
Tipperary GAA wished McCormack the best in his future endeavours hailing him for the “positive impact he has had on all those around him during that time.
"Dan proved to be an integral part of every panel he was a member of, and the contribution he made on each occasion he put on a Tipperary jersey was immense. He has represented himself, his club and his county with distinction and we wish him the very best for his future endeavours.”
Dan McCormack is the second Tipperary hurler to retire in the last couple of weeks, with three-time All-Ireland winner Patrick Maher having hung up his inter-county boots recently.
