TV3 are the big losers in the GAA's new broadcasting deal announced in the past hour.
Their Director of Broadcasting, Niall Cogley, had this to say about the new deal.
TV3 has been proud to broadcast the GAA Championship free to viewers throughout the country over the past six years. TV3 made a very commercial bid for the next three years but this appears to have been superseded by the GAA's preference for a pay television strategy.
TV3's former presenter and touchline reporter Kieran McSweeney also issued this telling response to the announcement.
A few yrs back TV3 showed 2 provincial finals on a Sunday. A leading #GAA official scoffed - 'who do ye think ye are? Sky Sports?' (1/2)

It seems #GAA attitudes to Sky's style has changed (2/2)

He further added.
Good luck to Sky Sports. And congrats to TV3 on 6 yrs of coverage of the #GAA. I hope your time comes again.
