TUS Midlands (Athlone IT in old money) are Electric Ireland Trench Cup champions, meaning they are promoted to compete in next year's Sigerson Cup.
The Westmeath college defeated DKIT at SETU Waterford on Wednesday evening, prevailing 2-11 to 0-9.
The key score came in the 38th minute. With the teams locked at 0-7 apiece, the game needed a piece of magic to separate the sides, and Cathal Flynn duly provided it.
In possession at the 45, he picked out a sublime through ball, placing it into the path of the on-rushing Brian Cooney, who duly finished it into the net.
"It's Maurice Fitzgerald-like, that kind of pass," remarked Jerome Quinn on commentary.
It's hard to disagree with him!
You can watch the score in the video below (time-stamped at 1:12:52):
It laid the foundations for the eight-point victory, as DKIT scored just two points throughout the remainder of the contest.
In a deserved win, the victors had too much for their Louth-based opponents, and hearty celebrations kicked off.

The game was being played as a double-header with the Sigerson Cup decider, with UCC and UL facing off at the same venue.
For TUS Midlands, dreams of competing in the top tier of colleges gaelic football start now, but we're sure they will enjoy the celebrations first.
