Bounce the ball during the Connacht football final in Tuam and that was it, you had surrendered possession. It was pretty much an automatic turnover.
The pitch maintenance fuel budget must have run out well in advance of today's game, because long grass combined with some soft ground to produce sub-optimal conditions for football.
Despite that, Castlebar and Corofin still produced an absorbing game. The Mayo champions defeating last year's All-Ireland winners by five points.
The reaction online from those watching the game was not positive.
Pitch absolutely disgraceful in Tuam for Connaught club final on @GAA_BEO final hard to believe this day & age #total-disrespect to plyrs

Ball is bouncing like a cavity block on the Tuam pitch #GAA #TG4

Corofin and Castlebar Mitchels deserve better than to be playing on an uncut cabbage pitch that is flanked by a cow shed.
