Days after Joe Canning pointed the way to Valhalla, Galway hurling is reeling from the news that the great Tony Keady has taken seriously ill.
The 53-year-old former Hurler of the Year was at Croke Park for Sunday's epic with Tipperary, but now lies critically ill at Galway University Hospital having suffered a suspected heart attack on Tuesday morning.
Keady was the Hurler of the Year in 1988, the last time Galway won the All-Ireland, and was vital in the All-Ireland triumph of 1987, too. He was infamously suspended for the 1989 All-Ireland semi-final against Tipperary for taking part in a game in the United States.
Thoughts are with Tony Keady and family - hopefully he will pull through with t best of care and recover well -
