This isn't right. Today was a fantastic day for Mayo football, winning their first league title since 2001. It was a rare final appearance for Mayo in Croke Park that did not end in disappointment, and they will be hoping it can give the m the platform to go and get over the hump this summer.
While it is a fantastic day for the county and their supporters, it was soured somewhat by the actions of a Croke Park steward. As the Mayo team was celebrating their fantastic victory, injured teammate Tom Parsons wanted to get in on the action.
Parsons suffered a horrific injury in the Connacht quarter final against Galway last summer, and has yet to return to the pitch. While he no doubt would have been gutted to miss out on an occasion such as this, those feeling would have been put to the back of his mind during the celebrations with his teammates.
Except he was denied that opportunity. Incredibly, Parsons was not allowed onto the pitch to celebrate the win, being stopped by the Croke Park stewards.
For Feck Sake.. I’m livid!! The stewards in Croke Park blocked Tom Parsons from joining his #Mayo teammates on the pitch. A man who has given so much to his county..dedicated his last year to recovering from an horrific injury.. He’s a proper #GAA hero. #KERRYvMAYO pic.twitter.com/gs293vxWMI

Understandably, this did not go down well with GAA people.
Holy shit, you're joking me. Are they not letting Tom Parsons on the pitch!?

After what Tom Parsons has been through it’s some insult not to be let onto pitch to celebrate with his teammates, #AllianzLeagueFinal

Delighted for Mayo
A special mention to that idiot steward who wouldn’t let Tom Parsons on the pitch to celebrate with the lads he soldiered with for 10 years #computersaysno #kerryvmayo— Tommy Courtney 👨💻 (@TommyC15) March 31, 2019
Disgraceful that Croke Park stewards wouldn’t let the injured Tom Parsons onto the pitch to celebrate with his team mates 😡

Say all you want about the rules and regulations, but a bit of common sense surely could have prevailed here. Let the man enjoy the win, god knows he has worked hard enough to be part of days like this.
It's just not good enough.
