New Tipperary gaelic football boss David Power was handed a massive blow as he takes the reins with the Premier County footballers
Power told Gordon Manning of the Sun today that Tipp sharpshooter Michael Quinlivan is taking a year out to go travelling.
“Michael is going travelling, it is a thing that has been on his mind for a while now so he won’t be available to us next year," Power told the Sun.
As with Daniel Flynn missing last season with Kildare, it's interesting to see players in their prime from counties with no discernible chance of winning an All-Ireland taking a year out.
Quinlivan's absence will surely be felt in the Tipp forward line in 2020. An All-Star in 2016, Quinlivan has developed a reputation as one of the best forwards in the country. Quinlivan also starred in the 2011 minor Championship, which Tipp won under Power's tutelage.
Tipp took a step backwards last season and begin 2020 in Division 3.
