No one's saying that the allegations of a Dublin player biting Paddy McBrearty in Ballybofey on Sunday are true, but it is perhaps worth noting that the 'bite' as a tactical defensive strategy is not an altogether foreign concept in contemporary intercounty football, particularly where Dublin is concerned. There was that time in the All-Ireland semifinal in 2010 when Philly McMahon was caught on camera having a nibble of Paul Kerrigan's right shoulder.
In the case of the below three-second video, perhaps the bark is worse than the bite itself. There was no mention of it in match reports or any official complaints made to the referee of the match. (For what it's worth, even though Balls was up and running in August, 2010, I hadn't seen this video until morning, although 11,000 other people had)
We do know McBrearty was in hospital on Sunday after the match. Maybe it was just a precautionary rabies check
