Now that the Sigerson Cup has concluded, with DCU Dóchas Éireann reigning victorious after beating UCD 3-6 to 1-16 in the final, the 2025 Electric Ireland GAA Higher Education Rising Stars Football Team of the Year has now been unveiled.

Seven DCU DÉ make up the players in the Team of the Year list. Their consistency and strength across the board were vital throughout their campaign and was a major part of their cup winning success.

The team were razor sharp with performances that were characteristic of a squad who could build a penetrating attack on one end and then swiftly prevent one at the other. Their all-rounder capabilities were exemplary, and proved to be fruitful in the end.

DCU finished with seven players in the team, while beaten finalists UCD had four player named. University of Ulster and TUD Dublin each had two representatives.

My sincere congratulations to each player and their respective institutions on their successes in this season's Championship and for their well-deserved selection to the Football Team of the Year. The Electric Ireland Higher Education GAA Championships provided immensely enjoyable viewing, thanks to the players' dedication and talent. Those named in the team are wonderful representatives of their third-level institutions, and we look forward to honouring their accomplishments at a formal event later in the year.

Robert Crabbe, Group Sponsorship & PR Manager, Electric Ireland, commented:

We are thrilled to announce the 2025 Electric Ireland GAA Higher Education Rising Stars Football Team of the Year. It was a pleasure to watch the drama and excitement of college football unfold this season and we would like to commend all the Rising Stars on this year’s team! The Sigerson Cup and the #FirstClassRivals campaign exemplify both fierce competition and lasting camaraderie and it has been great to watch county rivals unite to achieve remarkable success with their colleges this football season. Electric Ireland is delighted to support a competition that provides such a valuable experience for these brilliant athletes.

Next this month, on the 27th of March, The Electric Ireland Higher Education GAA Rising Stars Hurling Team of the Year will be announced and will award the 15 most starring performances of the Fitzgibbon Cup this year. Then on the 31st of March, the Rising Stars Football Player of the Year will also be announced. Just like the camogie, they will not be ones to miss.
