Outdoor sporting events in Ireland will take place behind closed doors.
The new measures were introduced following a government meeting on Tuesday.
Following a recent spike in COVID cases, NPHET and the cabinet passed proposals which will see attendance at games restricted to just players, coaches and medical teams.
Under Covid-19 guidelines, a maximum of 200 people had been allowed at outdoor sporting events prior to today's move. That number included players, management, officials and members of the media and did, in places, allow for a small amount of spectators to attend.
Just baffling 🤷🏻♂️🤡s

I’m hugely confused Ted....they want all schools to go back as normal...hundreds of people inside in the one building...but now they won’t let 200 people watch a match in a massive outdoors area.....these are small but those ones are far away 🙈 https://t.co/HZiCBfAQWz

No indication at this stage that sport going behind closed doors will apply in the north. The lack of an all-island approach only adds to the confusion. How can there be two different rules a mile or two apart in border areas?
