They may be marching their way through Ulster, but it seems there's still some doubts about Donegal's ability to go the full way to All Ireland glory. Rory Gallagher's side may be casting aside the likes of Armagh with ease but former Dublin star Ciaran Whelan believes that once they get through Ulster, they'll begin to hit problems.
That belief is interesting enough in itself but, instead, it's the manner in which Whelan has stated that opinion that is particularly noteworthy. Writing in the Irish Independent today, Whelan has followed a great Irish literary tradition of crafting a beautiful metaphor to perfectly explain his idea.
Donegal now resemble the lad at the nightclub who spends the whole night having to put in the ground work and graft in chatting up the girl.
Whelan then explains that said guy in a nightclub may look like he's favourite to take the young lady home but eventually he'll say or do the wrong thing to feck it up.
This allows a Dublin lad or a Kerry lad to swoop in during the last ten minutes of the night with a fresh approach and go home with the girl.
So the girl in the nightclub is like a prize akin to the All Ireland title? And they say Irish men don't understand women.
