What a year it's been. While Dublin would ultimately claim the championship that many assumed they would, they didn't have it all their own way. Kerry put up a hell of a fight in the final, but Jim Gavin's side would pull away in the end.
At the end of each year, it is always interesting to see who makes the team of the year. There is usually no shortage of suitable candidates and 2019 is no exception.
On tonight's special Saturday Game, the panel of Colm O'Rourke, Tomas Ó Sé and Sean Cavanagh revealed their team of the year. Unsurprisingly, it is dominated by the All-Ireland champions.
Seven Dublin players made the cut, with three from Kerry, two each from Mayo and Tyrone, and one from Donegal.
1.Stephen Cluxton (Dublin)
2. Michael Fitzsimons (Dublin)
3. Ronan McNamee (Tyrone)
4. Tom O'Sullivan (Kerry)
5. Paddy Durkan (Mayo)
6. Colm Boyle (Mayo)
7. Jack McAffrey (Dublin)
8. Brian Fenton (Dublin)
9. David Moran (Kerry)
10. Michael Murphy (Donegal)
11. Sean O'Shea (Kerry)
12. Brian Howard (Dublin)
13. Paul Mannion (Dublin)
14. Cathal McShane (Tyrone)
15. Con O'Callaghan (Dublin)
Not a bad team. The likes of James McCarthy, Ciaran Kilkenny, and David Clifford can count themselves unlucky to miss out.
David Clifford was selected as young player of the year, while Con O'Callaghan chosen as player of the year.
