St. Mary's booked their place in the semi-final of this year's Sligo senior championship with a convincing 12 point victory against Coolaney/Mullinabreena yesterday evening.
Going for their 12th county title, it has been announced that Mary's will face Eastern Harps for a place in the final.
One team they could potentially face there is Tourlestrane - the club of former Sligo All-Star Eamonn O'Hara.
Well, keeping an eye on all potential opponents, O'Hara was in Markievicz Park yesterday and noticed something familiar.
Good 2c a @TourlestraneGaa ⚽️used n @StMarysGAASligo v @CoolMbreenaGAA game 2day
We would appreciate its returned @sligogaa #stolenball pic.twitter.com/JyVBKVOQzH— Eamonn O’ Hara (@EamonnOHara8) September 24, 2017
A little bit of chicanery from the Sligo town club, O'Hara was not going to let this minor theft go unnoticed.
He seemed similarly disappointed with their blatant disregard for flaunting it.
school boy error cos!! Obviously no @Sharpie to rebrand it!!

Stephen Coen, a Sligo footballer and St. Mary's club man, then weighed in with his reassurances but O'Hara failed to see the logic.
If ur that stuck for a few footballs Eamo St Mary’s will sort ya out, #gaelicfamily #Marysfamily #brehenys 😂

In the end, it took another St. Mary's and Sligo stalwart Mark Breheny to put an end to the confusion.
Panic over..just heard ball was left with Johnny Giles at the gate..he will return to rightful owner next week.

Breheny and O'Hara share almost a combined 35 years service to Sligo football.
Yet, despite this wealth of experience, club ties bind that bit tighter it seems.
A hunting ground for the weird and the wonderful, the club championship really does throw up all sorts.
