As expected on Sunday, Cavan eased passed Armagh into the semi-final of the Ulster Championship.
It was an eight point win for Cavan.
Post-match on the Sunday Game Live - as he had been at half-time - Joe Brolly was scathingly critical of Kieran McGeeney.
Brolly stated that that the Armagh manager 'hasn't got a clue'.
I have never seen a Kieran McGeeney team, whether with Kildare or Armagh, win a tight game against good opposition.
In the modern era, when the manager is very important and systems are important, I genuinely think that he hasn’t a clue about these systems and how to play.
Imagine having Stefan Campbell, who’s absolutely lethal, (Gavin) Mc Parland is a very good finisher, Tony Kernan at centre-forward and they’re not being used. The gameplan doesn’t recognise the fact that they’re on the pitch.
Cavan aren’t that great. He’ll probably be there for another five years as he was in Kildare. The guy’s got a very strong personality but being a great player isn’t necessarily a qualification for being a great manager.
There has been backlash from Armagh from Brolly.
Yesterday, in an interview with Jackie Cahill, former Armagh manager Paul Grimley called Brolly's words 'poisonous'.
Today, in the Irish News, Steven McDonnell has continued the response.
The 2002 All-Ireland winner, labeled Brolly's remarks as 'disgusting' and while also calling for RTÉ to question how it can allow such comments.
To be allowed to come out with statements like that live on TV is disgusting and I think the broadcaster has to take a long hard look at themselves as well.
Joe Brolly has a history of coming out and humiliating people live on TV and I don't think there's any place in the GAA for anything like that whatsoever.
We all remember a few years ago, he publicly humiliated Paul Grimley as well [and] last Mary Morrissey was publicly humiliated.
You get away with it once and that's about it. Kieran's like everyone else- he's open to fair criticism but that, that's not fair - he is not given an open forum where he can respond to something like that.
