Naomh Mearnóg beat St. Anne's in the final game of their Dublin Senior 2 Football Championship group at Balgriffin on September 15th.
The victory saw Naomh Mearóg qualify for the quarter-finals at the expense of their opponents.
The game's final moments were incredibly dramatic.
St. Anne's were awarded a penalty with just minutes remaining. After it was converted, they led 1-13 to 1-12.
Then began some cynical play from St. Anne's as they attempted to delay the Naomh Mearnóg kick-out. The kick-out taken, St. Anne's were awarded a free-kick in midfield.
Naomh Mearnóg protested as a St. Anne's playing laying on the ground continued to eat up the clock.
What proceeded can only be called a brainfart from St. Anne's as their number 22 attempted to play the ball (a long way) back to his defence.
Waiting for the unexpected gift were two Naomh Mearnóg players who combined to take possession and score the winning goal.
The final whistle followed seconds later with the scoreboard reading: Naomh Mearnog 2:12 St. Anne's 1:13.
Naomh Mearnóg play Cuala in their quarter-final on Saturday.
