Davy Fitzgerald's performance under the glare of the RTE lights last Sunday was surreal on one level but wholly typical and unexpected on another.
It appears he isn't happy with the nation's referees. And sure haven't ye all seen what's gone on out there? The statisticians certainly have.
John Fogarty in the Irish Examiner has crunched the numbers and found that in the past year, the 'scored free count' has gone against Clare 'at a ratio of at least 2:1' in three of the last four games.
Limerick were awarded fourteen scoreable frees to Clare's six (or at least, frees which amounted to shots at goal) at the weekend.
In last year's Munster game against Cork, their opponents mustered 1-11 from frees compared to the 0-5 Clare knocked over.
While, in the replay against Wexford they lost 12-5 on scored frees. They did however win a majority of frees in the first game - ten to Wexford's seven.
It's Davy's contention that these numbers are the fault of the referees and not of Clare. But what do we think?
