Sky Sports have announced their team for their coverage of this summer's football and hurling Championships and there are a couple of surprises.
Sky Sports News presenter Rachel Wyse will, as thought, be one of the presenters. The surprise comes with the other choice though. It's former Munster and Ireland winger Brian Carney. Carney also played rugby league for Great Britain and is a presenter on Sky's rugby league coverage. It's a selection that will certainly leave some bumfuzzled.
Paul Galvin had been expected to fill one of the football analyst spots along with Peter Canavan. The former Tyrone footballer will be part of the coverage but Galvin will not. The other spot will be taken up by former Roscommon footballer Paul Earley.
Peter Canavan said:
I can't wait for our coverage of this year’s Gaelic Football championship to get underway. The resources at our disposal to analyse the games are second to none and I’m really looking forward to working with the team and bringing GAA supporters such a high level of insight.
As expected Jamesie O'Connor and Nicky English will be the hurling analysts. Commentators will be Mike Finnerty and Dave McIntyre.
