Sixmilebridge have avenged their 2018 quarter-final loss against Cratloe by beating them in the 2019 county final on a scoreline of 0-21 to 0-15.
Sixmilebridge rattled off ten of the last 14 points to finish stronger after a hotly contested final. They were powered on by full-back Barry Fitzpatrick who finished with 0-1 and as the man of the match.
On the sideline was local legend, Davy Fitzgerald. Speaking to TG4 for his post-match interview, Fitzpatrick hailed the Wexford boss for taking on the job and his service to the club.
"We have a lot to owe to Fitzy. A lot of lads didn't want to take us. We had a great manager last year, John O'Meara, but Fitzy came in and gave us his all. We are here as county champions."
It is fantastic. Tuesday, Thursday with us. He had his wedding on Friday. Thursday evening, he was with us. I don't know what his wife thought about that. Trained Saturday as well then at half one.
There is not a lot of lads that would train a team the day after their wedding. It is fantastic, how appreciative the club are of Davy.
